Duris Earns First Star of the Week Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY–Oklahoma Warriors goaltender Daniel Duris earned the honor of South Division First Star of the Week from the North American Hockey League on Monday.

Duris, who stopped 69 shots out of 72 he faced, won both of Oklahoma’s games against the Corpus Christi IceRays. He made 32 saves on Friday in a 5-1 win, then 37 saves in Saturday’s 6-2 victory. It is the Warriors’ first series sweep of the young season.

The 20-year-old goalie from Martin, Slovakia is 5-2 in seven starts for the Warriors this year. His GAA stands at 1.99 and save percentage at .937, both one of the top marks in the NAHL.

“Daniel played excellent for us this past weekend and continues to prove he is an elite goaltender in our league,” head coach Garrett Roth told the NAHL. “He picked up right where he left off last year as a goalie that can steal us a game if we are off and that has given our guys the confidence to make plays and develop in front of him.”

Duris has been a staple in Oklahoma’s net in both Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls. He began his career with the Wichita Falls Warriors before moving with the team to OKC, where he backstopped the group to the 2023 Robertson Cup Championship.
