Aug 19, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma Warriors, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced Wednesday the acquisition of defenseman Carson Steinhoff from the Minnesota Mallards in exchange for one 2027 third-round draft pick.

Steinhoff, 19, split last season between the Mallards and the Shakopee High Sabers, where he served as team captain for three consecutive seasons.

“We are excited to add Carson to our group,” Head Coach Eric Ballard said. “With him being an offensive defenseman who also brings in NAHL experience, it’s a huge addition to our roster.”

The 6-foot defenseman played in 26 games with the Mallards, logging two assists, adding three goals and 17 assists to his season totals in 26 games with the Sabers.

In the 2024-25 season, the Shakopee, Minnesota native had triple duties with the Sabers, Mallards and Team Twin Cities Orthopedics. The offensive defenseman logged one goal and four assists in 12 outings with Team Twin Cities, two goals and 27 assists in 31 games with the Sabers and made eight appearances with the Mallards for his season totals.

Steinhoff’s career-best season in high school was the 2023-24 season, his first as captain, logging two goals and 34 assists in 27 games played.

The Warriors begin the 2026-27 campaign at home on Friday, Sept. 18 against the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Puck drop from Blazers Ice Centre is set for 7 p.m. CST.
