BLAINE, Minn. – The Oklahoma Warriors, proud members of the North American Hockey League, fell 5-3 to the Billings Cattle Punchers on Friday.
Landon Jamieson put the Punchers ahead 1-0 at the 12:06 mark in the opening frame, set up by Devon Winder and Joey Fankhanel, for the lone goal of the period.
Felix Pomerleau doubled the lead, booming a slapshot from the top of the right faceoff circle, putting Billings ahead 2-0 off the assist from Trenton Stark at 12:45. Max Gagnon logged his first of the season, with Jackson Hone and Jeremy Sprung collecting the helpers to make it 2-1 at 6:23, rounding out the middle frame scoring.
Olivier Laverdière added his second of the season, unassisted at 19:08, making the game tied 2-2. Shortly after, Evan Foiles would put Billings back in front, unassisted at 15:07, making it 3-2. Later in the period, Evan Foiles would add his second of both the game and period, off a dish from Landon Rogers, extending the Punchers’ lead to 4-2. Joey Fankhanel added a goal of his own at 3:16 with Landon Jamieson picking up the helper, making it 5-2. Tyler Wilmoth added his first career goal, burying a rebound set up by Olivier Laverdière at 1:09, rounding out the scoring for the 5-3 final.
Jakob Hanlan stopped 15-of-20 shots in the Oklahoma effort and Nicolas Rempel stopped 27-of-30 in the Billings win.
