OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma Warriors, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced Wednesday the acquisition of forward Luke VanderRoest from the Danbury Hat Tricks in exchange for defenseman Cam Ross.
VanderRoest, 19, split last season with the NCDC’s Boston Jr. Rangers and NAHL’s Danbury Hat Tricks.
“We had a need for a little more size up front, and especially through the middle in the center position, and Luke [VanderRoest] was an option for us,” Head Coach Eric Ballard said. “Danbury was looking for an experienced D-man that’s been in the league for a while, and Cam was a player that contributed a quarter of the season to the Warriors.”
In 24 games with the Jr. Rangers, the 6-foot-3 center logged nine goals and 16 assists, adding three goals and one assist in 16 games with the Hat Tricks to his season totals.
Prior to beginning his junior career, the Traverse City, Michigan native spent the 2024-25 season with Fox Motors 18U AAA, appearing in 52 games, logging 12 goals and 15 assists.
Ross, 19, split last season with the Johnstown Tomahawks and Oklahoma Warriors. In 26 games with the Tomahawks, the 6-foot-4 defenseman logged one goal and two assists. The Philadelpha, Pennsylvania native appeared in 11 games for the Warriors, logging one assist.
“We wish him the best,” Ballard said. “The trade was really good for both Cam to be a bigger role in Danbury, and for us to solidify and add some depth and size through through our center position up front.”
The Warriors begin the 2026-27 campaign at home on Friday, Sept. 18 against the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Puck drop from Blazers Ice Centre is set for 7 p.m. CST.
