BLAINE, Minn. – The Oklahoma Warriors, proud members of the North American Hockey League fell 5-1 to the Johnstown Tomahawks on Thursday.
The lone first period goal came from Jack Genovese at 15:26, potting home the rebound from Conner Maione’s breakaway attempt that was set up by Lane Glende, putting Johnstown ahead 1-0.
Evan Kensey doubled the lead with a shorthanded breakaway tally at 15:35, making it 2-0 Tomahawks. With 7:28 remaining in the middle frame, Justin Chiras wired home a one-time blast from Conor Griffin, making it 3-0, rounding out the second period scoring.
Jackson Hone sniped home his third goal in just as many games at 12:12 in the third period, putting the Warriors on the board to make it 3-1 off the assist from Jeremy Sprung. Ethan Coots answered the Warriors push with a tally at 7:16, assisted by Evan Kensey putting Johnstown ahead 4-1. Conor Griffin launched the puck from his own defensive end at 2:47, potting it in the empty net off the assist from Evan Kensey to secure the 5-1 final.
Nathan St-Pierre stopped 30-of-34 shots faced in the Oklahoma effort, and Dylan Bourque stopped 28-of-29 in the win, earning the Tomahawks their first win on the 2026-27 campaign.
The Warriors are back in action on Friday, Sept. 25 as they’ll face one of the new additions to the league, the Billings Cattle Punchers. Puck drop from NSC Super Rink 1 is set for 2:30 p.m. with the game being broadcast on NATV.
